It's Movember and time to make a difference.

Men’s health is a cause I am passionate about but in order to make a difference I need your help. My commitment is to grow a moustache for the month of November and in doing so, raise vital awareness and funds for mens health including prostate and testicular cancer.

I am asking you to help support my personal journey by making a donation. The size of which isn’t important, every little contribution helps Movember to continue its funding of world class programmes.  If you want to know more about what you’ll be helping to fund, you can visit Movember's Program Overview page.

To highlight the importance of what I am doing, take a look at these statistics:
• 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
•  his year 40,000 new cases of the disease will be diagnosed in the UK
• 47% of testicular cancer cases occur in men under 35 years and over 90% occur in men under 55 years

If you’d like to help change these statistics, please donate to me by:
• Donating online at:
• Writing a cheque payable to 'Movember', referencing my Registration ID: 4977329 and mailing it to: Movember Europe PO Box 68600 London EC1P 1EF

For more details, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website: you in advance for supporting my efforts to change the face of men's health.

News July 2012
PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to the Hot Furniture Co’s latest news. This we hope will be every 2 months and as such should you have any comments, topics or input of any kind that you would like to feature, then please drop us a line.

Firstly Darren and I would like to extend a huge thank you to all our customers, for initially having faith in our products and services/us and moreover for your continued support over the past 6 years.

Equally we would like to thank also all of our suppliers, in particular Euroheat, for their help, products and services.

New products for Season 2012/13

This season all of our top manufacturers will be bringing out new stoves and appliances. There is a huge range now within our product portfolio from our key manufactures Hwam, Efel, Nestor Martin, and Rika. All four have new products. If this wasn’t enough we have added to our stable the Danish brand Wiking, with two core products (Miro 1 and 3) being at the heart of their range.

Hwam continue to expand the boundaries of engineering and design to bring us a new range of stoves with a revamped product listing, giving each stove it’s place amongst a series. For example the start off model is the 2610 from the 2600 series, followed by the 3110 from the 3100 series. These models can be best described as contemporised versions of firm favourites such as the Vivaldi or Mozart. Hwam have introduced side viewing panels into the 2100 and 3100 series giving even more choice and flexibility. The Hwam range continues on through the 3400,3500 and 3600 series and all will be available to view in some form within the showroom over the course of the next few months.

The Belgian stable of Efel/Nestor Martin continue to lead the market and have tweaked the Harmony, Stanford and Stanford SP stove families. They too have brand new stoves, the fantastic Efel Elgar C13 being our favourite. Nestor Martin have completely re vamped the range of inserts with new cleaner front face lines and more frame options. Again examples of the Belgian stoves will be arriving all the time into the showroom. The pick of the new stoves from Rika is the Imposa.

Please also remember to ask us for any other stove that you might be interested in-we understand that there can be historical, sentimental and economical reasons at play in determining the stove that you would wish to purchase.

I often get asked about parking at the showroom and as such though it might be helpful to point out that there are free parking spaces just outside the shop.

.....Site Visits

Once a consultation has taken place either in the showroom or on the phone, the next stage is what we call a “site visit” whereby I come out to look at the specifics involved in the installation of the stove that you have chosen/like to have and the composition of the fireplace around it. This then produces the full detailed paperwork of what, why, how much and when that constitutes the quotation of works/estimate. Site visit appointments are generally 830am-1030am and 430pm-630pm Wednesdays and Thursdays and 830-1030 on a Saturday. Other evening or morning slots can be made available by appointment to suit.

Most customers come to us because we can look after every aspect of the supply and installation of the stove from consultation, design and implementation to firing the stove up with you at the end of the process. All in house. For years, our reputation has been built on this process and ability. This season we look to build on that. As part of the consultation process I will be offering more complete installation pictures in the showroom and on the website in order that you can better see what the end result will look like. We have a huge database of pictures of our finished jobs and more and more customers have asked to see them. This also helps to understand the nature of real installations in real homes rather than the rather inept photo shop brochures/online shots that abound. These give totally unrealistic impressions of what constitutes a good stove installation as well as dangerous ideas that would contravene the SBSA Building Regs. If you don’t see the shot that you think best reflects either what you have by way of a pre-existing fireplace, or in terms of what you would like the overall installation to look like, just let me know and I can pull a picture from the database for you.

Service Work/Schedule

As some of our customers will know, we offer a Sweep and Service, for £150 incl Vat, in order to keep your stove and chimney working well and within warranty, as well as giving us the opportunity to diagnose potential problems before the happen and help keep you on top of the various issues surrounding the use of solid fuel and chimneys. This normally take 90 mins to complete. We can really, due to manpower, only offer this during the months of April-September and cut off this year is strictly end September. If you are interested in getting booked in please call me at the shop for the next available dates.

Our wood supply partner, Certainly Wood, are again offering deals this summer. Head onto their website to get the latest. They, like us, are very keen to point out the benefits of planning ahead with wood supply. We will endeavour to keep a large running stock up t the yard as well as at the shop for this season.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter. Don’t hesitate to contact me at the shop, on the mobile or by email for any assistance.

Kind regards

Summer Wood burning Stove News in Edinburgh at The Hot Furniture Company
PDF Print E-mail

This summer has seen a significant increase in the demand for wood burning stoves in Edinburgh at The Hot Furniture Company.

Whether this is due to our customers being more pro active in preparing for the Autumn/Winter months or just a sign of economic recovery it is difficult to judge. We would simply like to extend our gratitude to our existing wood burning stove users in Edinburgh for their recommendations to  friends/family and work colleagues as well as  a thank you to those new customers who have decided to think ahead and come to us over the glorious weather for their wood burning stoves.

The move to our new premises at Straiton has been a happy and productive one. Moreover it has been lovely to receive so many positive emails and comments from our wood burning stove customers who had visited or purchased from us on Jeffrey Street in Edinburgh and who have taken the time to pop in to say hello, no doubt on the way to Ikea, Costco or M and S- a very familiar run it would seem!

The weather outside is frightful ...
PDF Print E-mail

Did anyone notice summer? No? Thought not. A terrible wash out, and by the end of August there was already an autumnal nip in the air. Weather like this makes me glad of the wood burning stove that on many occasions was lit of an evening to cheer up damp guests.

It might not be cold enough to fire up the central heating, but on a night of constant deluge the warmth and glow of the stove was extremely welcome. We were even able to dry a cycling visitor's drenched socks in time for them to hop on the bike and head home after dinner. Brilliant.

THFC moves to its new HQ
PDF Print E-mail

Nord and Darren are delighted to announce the move to their new headquarters at Straiton Business Parc.

Nord explains the move: "The wonderful new space allows us to incorporate everything under one roof- a purpose built and designed showroom on the 1st floor with our office area downstairs. This lets us bring together all of our various departments (installations, technical support, accounts,IT,research and development) in a more coherent, logistically sound way. This  should make our customer experience more directed in turn improving customer service and support. Moreover our hope and aim is to make the whole process more intuitive and streamlined."

There is ample free parking and The Hot Furniture Co. are available Tuesday-Saturday 10-5 as well as by appointment should an alternative time suit you better. They are situated right next to Ikea, Costco, M&S and Sainsbury so plan in a visit and make a day of it.
